How can I make Bakso Meatballs

Indonesian meatballs

Indonesian meatballs are popular street food and are eaten with soup, noodles or vegetables. So Bakso is very versatile.

Ingredients for 6 servings

2 Tbspsalt
3 TL sugar
3 PcGarlic cloves
300 ml Water, ice cold
300 G Tapioca flour
1 kg Ground beef, fresh

Recipe preparation

  1. First place the specified amount of water in the freezer for about 30 minutes. It has to be freezing cold for further processing.
  2. In the meantime, peel the garlic and grate finely. Put the fresh ground beef in a bowl and add the garlic.
  3. Then add the tapioca flour, salt and sugar to the mince mixture and then pour in the ice-cold water. Knead the mince with the dough hook of a kitchen machine for about 15-20 minutes on the lowest setting.
  4. Bring the water to the boil in a saucepan and, in the meantime, shape walnut-sized balls out of the minced mixture with moistened hands.
  5. The Indonesian meatballs Pour (Bakso) into the boiling water, reduce the temperature to the lowest level and let the Bakso steep for about 10 minutes. As soon as they rise to the surface, cook for another 5 minutes.
  6. Now lift all of the meatballs out of the water with a slotted spoon and let them drain. Finally, add to the soup or sauce or mix with vegetables.
