How do I cure a thigh pain
Can you cure nerve pain?
While normal pain occurs when contact with a pain trigger is registered by the corresponding sensors and passed on to the brain, the pain signals in the case of nerve damage are often sent permanently to the brain for no apparent reason. In order to ensure successful treatment, it is therefore important to clarify which underlying disease is present before treatment. If this can be cured, the nerve pain often disappears as well. Otherwise it is necessary to treat them symptomatically.
What are the causes of nerve pain?
There are a number of possible causes for the occurrence of neuropathic pain. Depending on the trigger, they are divided into two classes: peripheral neuropathies that originate in the peripheral nervous system and central neuropathies that originate in the brain or spinal cord. The term "neuropathy" means that the nervous system is damaged or diseased. The main reasons for these complaints include:
If pain occurs more frequently, the body lowers the pain threshold. The affected person feels the pain more intensely and for longer. To a certain extent, the organism learns to perceive pain. Permanent irritation of the pain receptors does not lead to a reduction in their excitability, but rather to the opposite: hypersensitivity. The fear of pain alone can lead to chronic disease symptoms.
What treatments will help cure nerve pain?
Remedies commonly used for epileptic seizures or depression, among other things, are used to cure nerve pain. These drugs prevent the damaged nerve pathways from being overly excited. Since the antidepressants used for treatment have a different effect on pain, they are used in lower doses than in therapy for depression. The active ingredients used here include, for example, Dulotexin, Venlafaxine and Amitriptyline. Strong, classic pain relievers are also very effective in curing nerve pain. Therefore, drug forms with a delayed release are used in particular.
There are good study results for the treatment of diabetic neuropathies and nerve pain after shingles with the opioids oxycodone and tramadol. It should be noted that constipation is one of the common side effects, which should be treated from the outset. On the other hand, pain relievers such as paracetamol, metamizole, diclofenac, acetylsalicylic acid and ibupufen are less effective for such nervous disorders. Opioids and anticonvulsants are given priority when it comes to shooting pain.
In the case of persistent pain, antidepressants or classic painkillers are more likely to be used. In addition to or to bridge the period in which the drugs are not yet effective, non-drug procedures such as nerve blocks, electrical nerve stimulation and infiltration are also useful. In individual cases, depending on the severity of the pain, physical measures, psychotherapy and occupational therapy can also bring relief.
Side effects from treatment
Taking some medications used to treat neuropathic pain can lead to more or less severe side effects. The following symptoms can occur in connection with antidepressants:
- Dry mouth
- sleep disorders
Therapy with opiates can also be associated with side effects. The main symptoms here are dizziness, vomiting, tiredness, confusion and hallucinations. In order to cure nerve pain, two, sometimes even three, different basic therapeutic agents are often combined with one another, as the different mechanisms of action can complement one another. On the one hand, this increases the effectiveness and, on the other hand, enables a lower dosage of the individual drugs and consequently leads to fewer side effects. Finding the most suitable remedy for each patient, however, often requires great patience.
