How does Kindle Unlimited work

Is a Kindle Unlimited subscription worth it?

We read a lot and love to read on our Kindle. We actually have it in hand every day, even if we also love the good “old” classic printed books - you can read about the reasons and the selection in this article: 9 reasons why we read on the eBook reader. The Kindle Unlimited subscription is of course ideal.

We have been using and testing the subscription that comes with the Kindle for a long time, and here are the key facts about it.

What does a Kindle Unlimited subscription cost?

First things first: What do you have to invest if you take out a subscription to Kindle Unlimited?
Currently (as of February 2021) the subscription costs € 9.99 including VAT per month. Should you find after a few months that you are not using the subscription properly, you can cancel it at any time.

What does the subscription offer?

  • You have access to over 1 million eBooks.
  • Several thousand audio books are included in the subscription.
  • You have access to various magazines.
  • A treat for fans: Volumes 1 to 7 of Harry Potter are available free of charge by subscription.

How does the subscription work?

Sure, first of all you need a Kindle *. Alternatively, you can read the books in the app on your PC, mobile phone or tablet. Then you rummage in the Amazon shop for the books that interest you. If the books are included in the Unlimited subscription, they are marked accordingly and you can simply borrow them just as you would normally buy a book for your Kindle.

The titles will then appear in your library. When you have finished reading it, you give it back. You can download up to 10 borrowed titles at the same time. As long as the subscription is active, there is no time limit.

Is the Kindle Unlimited subscription worth it?

Well, that depends (as always). Those who enjoy reading the very latest books and bestsellers will often be disappointed. These books are usually not included in the Unlimited subscription. On the other hand, if you like to read a lot of books on one topic and just read a lot, you will definitely get your money's worth.

We always use the subscription in phases, as it can be canceled at any time. Especially in winter or now in times of the pandemic we read enthusiastically and a lot again. When we are out and about a lot in the summer and not so much at home, it is probably time for a break again.

Can I test the subscription first?
