What is sustainable teaching

education for Sustainable Development

The "Environmental School in Europe / International Sustainability School" is a program for school development that systematically enables the entire school to be designed in the spirit of education for sustainable development. The tender "Environmental School in Europe / International Sustainability School" is part of the worldwide Eco-School network of the Foundation for Environmental Education (F.E.E.). In Germany the process is coordinated by the German Society for Environmental Education (DGU), in Bavaria by the La // ndesbund für Vogelschutz in Bayern e. V. in cooperation with the German Society for Environmental Education. The project is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection. The Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture and the Academy for Teacher Training and Personnel Management in Dillingen are cooperation partners. Around 51,000 schools in 67 countries are currently participating worldwide. In addition to the benefit for the environment, this also opens up diverse opportunities for global school partnerships for Bavarian schools.

The aim of the program is to further develop schools that face the challenge of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). More information on the participation modalities can be found on the project homepage.
